Sevensense Robotics raised a Series A investment of $7.7 million, led by ABB Technology Ventures. The financing is expected to close by the end of November 2021.

Sevensense Robotics was founded in 2018 as a spin-off from ETH Zurich and received early support from Wyss Zurich. Headquartered in Zurich, Sevensense employs 25 people and offers industry-grade 3D Visual SLAM localization and navigation solutions for all kinds of autonomous robots, from forklifts to professional cleaning machines.

“We have demonstrated that our technology is mature and ready to be deployed at scale in industrial settings. Today we set a fundamental milestone on the path that leads Sevensense closer to achieving its vision: enabling mobile robots to be operated everywhere, by anyone!” stated Gregory Hitz, CEO of Sevensense Robotics.

The company currently OEMs its navigation software to several mobile robotics partners, including Wetrok AG, Safelog and Rapyuta Robotics. ABB is also one of its customers. ABB is installing Sevensense’s software and hardware into its AMRs, and begin pilot customer projects in 2022. ABB is best known for its industrial and collaborative robot arms, but in July 2021 it began to venture into AMRs with the acquisition of ASTI Mobile Robotics for $190 million.
