Oracle companions with Telecom Italia to carry cloud providers to Italy

Oracle has signed a collaborative agreement with Telecom Italia (TIM) and its cloud division Noovle to bring multi-cloud services to enterprises and public sector organisations in Italy.

The new partnership plans to “utilise advanced cloud infrastructure technologies to support [the] goal of advancing Italy’s digital modernisation”, a press release said.

Within the alliance, Noovle will provide a network of Italian data centres, TIM will bring its sales network, and Oracle will build in its cloud infrastructure.

Through a collaborative model, major cloud providers’ platforms will be connected in a multi-cloud environment designed to help public and private organisations scale in efficiency, lower their costs, all the while maintaining security standards.

Oracle’s hybrid and multi-cloud strategy will enable TIM to ensure that customer data is hosted in-country with a cloud solution that meets customers’ data sovereignty needs.

Carlo d’Asaro Biondo, CEO at Noovle, said: “”The collaboration with Oracle is a key element for accelerating our group’s transition to more flexible models and supporting the digitisation of businesses and public administration.

By adopting a multicloud model, we can enrich our offer of high value-added services, enabling our customers to promptly seize the best business opportunities while simultaneously improving efficiency. This partnership also broadens the portfolio of solutions brought to the market by Noovle along with other major cloud players, facilitating openness, interoperability and flexibility.”

Thales and Google recently partnered for a similar sovereign cloud project for French enterprise and public sector organisations.

Fabio Spoletini, senior vice president for Oracle South Europe, added: “We are pleased to be working with a major Italian operator in boosting digital innovation and the economic recovery of Italy. Oracle has a considerable footprint in highly-regulated and mission-critical enterprise and public sector environments, making us ideally suited to support customers with data-driven digital transformation objectives based on our secure and high-performing cloud.”
